Red, White, and Blue Popsicles
If you’re looking for something easy and refreshing on a hot July day, why not make some red, white, and blue popsicles. You really only need a couple of things to bring this treat to life.
- Red, Blue, and White Gatorade
- Popsicle molds and sticks
Grab your popsicle molds, pour one color of Gatorade into each mold and freeze for a few hours. Before you know if you’ll have red, white, and blue popsicles.
If you have extra time and you want to elevate your popsicles, you can fill up each mold ⅓ with the first color, freeze overnight, pour in the next color until the mold is ⅔ full, freeze overnight and then fill the last ⅓ up with your last color. These will make popsicles with red, white, and blue stripes.
Or if you prefer a creamier popsicle, check out this healthy version that Becky from The Cookie Rookie has created. Filled with fruit, her creamy 4th of July popsicles are sure to be a hit. They’re made from greek yogurt, bananas, blueberries, and strawberries!
Turn this family favorite into a patriotic treat!
Growing up I loved Rice Krispie Treats, and it turns out they’re a hit with my kids as well. They’re also a fairly easy treat to make, with plenty of steps that the little can handle or pass the whole activity over to older kids that can use the microwave. Turn this classic into a fun and easy 4th of July recipe for the whole family.
Ingredients
- 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal (divided)
- 16 oz marshmallows (divided)
- 3 tbsp margarine or butter (divided)
- Food Coloring (red and blue/turquoise)
- Gather your supplies and divide the Rice Krispies and marshmallows in three for the three layers (2 cups Rice Krispies and about 2 cups marshmallows).
- Add marshmallows to a microwave-safe bowl along with the margarine (1 TB) for a few minutes or until they start to get big and almost touch the top of the microwave. Take them out, stir well and add the food coloring. (We started with the blue, then no food coloring, and then the red).
- Then add 2 cups of Rice Krispies and stir well. Press into a well-greased 9x9 pan (a 9x13 works but makes thinner treats).
- Repeat with no food coloring and then the red food coloring layer. Let set and enjoy!
